SUMMARY

Planting trees is the best way to meet challenges of climate change, especially in a city like Karachi. The largest city of Pakistan has suffered through heatwaves consistently for last many years. It is imperative that we plant trees on a large scale to combat the effects of climate change and greenhouse gases as trees work like natural air conditioners. When the trees transpire, they provide a cooling effect to the atmosphere. In three years’ time, a fully grown tree will provide a fairly reasonable canopy, begin absorbing atmospheric carbon, give out oxygen and regularise rainfall.
